Target finds today

Found the Sutton Dodge Chuck Roasts for $1.49/lb at one store. No chuck steaks in sight and the stew meat was regular price.

Found Brining kits for .99 (Reg $8.99) in the meat department. There are 2 different flavors. A sage apple and an herb blend.

2 pks of Ducan Hines frosting were $1.75 (15% off). I have never seen them packed like that.

A friend found the 38 oz pks of Goldn Plump boneless/skinless breasts for $5.75. They are short dated (3/22) so it is most likely a YMMV type of deal. This is the type of thing that you won't find in the ad. My guess is, the butcher ordered too much for this weeks sale ($7.xx). Even though the packages are frozen in the back, they can't change the date on them. Too bad for Target, but great for those that find it. Regular price is $12.

Also grabbed some more mini bread loaves. I had every intention of buying a ton of these and freezing them, but my freezer is full to the brim. We are talking I couldn't even get a stick of butter in it after I put the chicken and roasts from today in. Thankfully, I have another large freezer secured, but it is not here at the moment.

Target Meat

I ran into Target this morning to grab a few things, and had to stop in the meat department. I did grab 1 Chuck Roast for $4.74 - $2.00 TQ = $2.74 for the roast. Also grabbed 3 packs of stew meat. All 3 packs were under $2. The $2 off TQ auto-adjusted at the checkout, making the meat completely free. I didn't get any overage, but that was ok.

I am going to go back and grab a few more packs. They vac sealed up pretty nicely.

Cub Foods Week of 3/15

Looks like a good week at Cub!

Chuck Roast: BOGO cpn on the front of the ad. Probably a better deal at Target yet today, but if you miss it or don't have a Super Target near you, grab a few roasts at Cub tomorrow.

Carrots: BOGO cpn on the front of the ad. Comes to $1.99 for 4 lbs (.50/lb) of carrots. I paid $2.54 for 5 lbs (.51/lb) eariler in the week at Sams Club.

Russet Potatoes: BOGO cpn on the front of the ad. $2.99 for 10 lbs (.30/lb). I paid $4.86 for 10 lbs at Sams Club. (.49/lb).

Onions: BOGO cpn on the front of the ad. $1.79 for 4 lbs (.45/lb). If you have a food dehydrator, slice these really thin and dry. Once dried, break them up and you have dried onion pieces to use as seasoning.

Dinner Rolls: BOGO cpn on the front of the ad. $2.99 for 24 rolls (.12/roll).

Combine all of the above with a can of tomato soup and some seasoning, and you can have a cheap meal!!!

Promo: Buy 10 Kelloggs, Sunshine, or Keebler items, get $10 off your order. Items are $2.50 each. Rice Krispie treats are one of the items and there is a coupon out for them.
10 x $2.50 = $25.00 - $5.00 ($1/2 mfg insert) - $10 (Cub ad cpn) = $10 for 10 boxes.
I believe they are 8 ct boxes. 10 x 8 = 80 bars. $10/80 = .13 each.

Hormel Thick Cut Boneless Pork Chops: BOGO cpn in the ad. Coupon says save $4.99/lb. There are $1/1 mfg cpns out for hormel. For all figuring reasons, let's say the packages are 2 lb each.
$4.99 x 4 lbs (2 pks) = $19.96 - $2.00 (2 x $1/1 mfg cpn) - $9.98 (BOGO cpn, 2lb x $4.99) = $8.00 for 4 lbs of chops. $2/lb in the end. Very nice price. Vac seal these in a marinade for added flavor.

Thomas English muffins: BOGO, no cpn needed. 8ct packs. No price stated, but there are $1/1 mfg cpns out there.

Natures Pride Bread: BOGO cpn in the ad. There are .55/1 mfg cpns.
$3.89 x 2 = $7.78 - .55/1 - .55/1 - $3.89 = $2.79 for 2 loaves. $1.40/loaf.

Gold'n Plump Chicken: Buy $25 worth, get $10 off your order. Prices aren't given, but if I remember, the 20 oz pks of breasts are $5.99 at Cub.
$5.99 x 5 = $29.95 - $10 = $19.96 for 5 packs. $3.99/pk. Don't buy this unless you really need it. We did better at Target a few weeks ago at $2.99/pk.

Runs through the 17th.

If you are one of the lucky ones that has Super Kmart in your area, this is a great time for you!!

They are doubling up to $2 coupons.

How does this work?
Let's say an item is $4 and you have a $2/1 coupon for it. When doubled, it makes the item free. If the item is $3.50 and the coupon is a $2/1, it will double to $3.50. You will not get overage on it.

You can walk out with serious amounts of free stuff.

Free Bag of Chips

I have a coupon for you. It is for a free bag of chips.

You can find them at Targets and WalMarts. They are $2.66 in the store, but the coupon is good for up to $3.50. If you cashier isn't paying attention and just pushes the coupon through, you end up with the overage.

The coupon is in a pdf form, and I haven't figured out how to post it here yet, sooooooooooooooo, if you want it, you will have to email me!! Ha! It is a good way to see who is reading this blog and who isn't!

Dinner tonight.

It's a damp, rainy, snowy, sleety day here.
Here is my breakdown for dinner tonight.

Dinner tonight:
1 London Broil Diced .33 (Target $2.33 - $2.00 TQ)
2 cans tomato soup FREE AC grocery store deal
2 carrots .20 ($2.47/25 carrots, x 2. Sams Club)
1 Onion .07 (BOGO at the grocery. 15 onions/bag. $1.99/30 onions x 1)
1/3 bunch of celery .24 ($2.17/3 bunches/3)
Seasoning = Free

Total: .84

I am making the stew in the crockpot. Total electricity saver. I do have 2 loaves of homemade amish bread rising right now that will go in the oven. Each loaf will be under .75

It will feed 3 adults and 2 kids. We will have leftovers for tomorrow too.

The plants are up!

So far, the tomatoes, basil, and rosemary are up! Just a few Sage have poked through. The peppers, lavender, and more basil were just planted yesterday, so they will take a few more days.

The girls are getting excited though! We have to rotate the trays each day or the plants lean towards the window too much.

Target Ad Highlights for March 15th - March 22nd

I think I am looking at a regular stores ad as there is no meat/produce/etc at all.

Baby:
$9.00 Pampers Jumbos (Save $1.29 off regular price.) There are $1.50 mfg's I believe. Actually, they could be $2 off's.
$15 Luvs Family Packs (boxes). There is a $1/1 mfg coming out on Sunday in the inserts.
$17 Huggies SuperMega's (large plastic wrapped). There are $1.50/1 mfg's out there.

Food:
Buy 5 Quaker items, get a $5 gift card. Most are 2/$5. There are $1/1 Oatmeal mfg's and $1/1 Rice Cake mfg's to use. The rice cakes are $2 each in the ad.

Planting a Garden

Super easy to do and saves you a ton of $$$ !!

From the Burpee site:
Major savings for people who grow their own vegetables!
A well-planned garden will result in a 1 to 25 cost-savings ratio, meaning $50 in seeds and fertilizer can produce $1,250 worth of groceries purchased at a supermarket. And all you need is a small, sunny plot to enjoy these big savings.

In addition to cost savings the taste of homegrown vegetables is vastly superior to store-bought and their nutritional value far exceeds vegetables that line the shelves of supermarkets a week or more after being picked.

Each Money Garden contains packages of six easy-to-grow varieties capable of producing $650 worth of vegetables on a mere tenth of an acre.
A $20 value for only $10

I have 4) 72 cell ct trays started. 3 out of the 4 are all herbs. I will dry them and use them for Christmas gifts and throughout the year for cooking. Currently, my Peppers are far outnumbering my tomatoes, so I will need to plant more tomatoes. I bought my carrot, lettuce, and radish strips yesterday at Fleet Farm, so those will just need to be laid down in the dirt, and we are good to go! (Thanks for the tip on that Grandma, Jessie was holding out on us!!)

Now, I don't have a huge flat area for a garden. My solution: Raised Beds. My father in law doesn't know it yet, but we are going to spend a day together building some. These are the plans that I will be using. We may end up making them a bit bigger, but the method will be the same.
